Ronnie grew up in the apartment construction and development business started by his father in 1959. After earning a BBA from the University of Texas at Austin in 1977, Ronnie worked for his father’s company on apartment construction sites in Houston, gaining hands-on experience. In 1981, Ronnie graduated from the University of Houston Law Center and began working as a real estate attorney for a downtown Houston law firm.

In 1986, Ronnie co-founded The Morgan Group, Inc., which grew to be one of the top 50 private apartment developers in the nation. In 1998, Ronnie moved from Houston to San Diego, where, over the next 10 years, he led the western region of his company, developing more than 3,500 units in Southern California and creating its most profitable division. In 2011, Ronnie sold his interest in The Morgan Group, Inc. to his brother, Mike.

Since then, Ronnie has launched four distressed housing funds under the Alegria Real Estate platform. With more than 400 transactions, Alegria became one of the largest buyers of single-family homes in San Diego County. Ronnie has also formed joint ventures to develop institutional-quality apartment projects nationwide. Over his career, Ronnie has been involved in the development of more than 28,000 apartment units, aggregating over $2 billion in value.

In addition to his professional work, Ronnie has held several nonprofit and school board positions, and served as President of the Houston Apartment Association and Chairman of the San Diego Chapter of the Young Presidents’ Organization (YPO).
